Mare and I like head out to a foreign land with backpacks, a "Lonely Planet," or some other guide book, and a budget. We are retired and live modestly, but have learned that if you have the ability to travel for lengthy periods of time, life is less expensive while being on the road. Travel for several months at a clip is much different from vacation, in the sense that you do not have to cram a bunch of expensive activities into a week or two.
We share a passion for travel. Not speaking the language, being a different color, feeling stupid and depending upon the basic good spirit of humans serves to enrich our souls. At least, that is our hope. Happy Trails!
